How to read the sources, categories and citation figures in BBA’s Impact & Influence Dashboard.
Six areas of evidence
The dashboard organises evidence by policy, parliament and government; academic and scholarly use or points of reference; news and media; social media; talks and conferences; and industry and institutional use. Categories help readers explore different forms of activity and influence; they are not a weighted impact score.
Sources and strength of claims
Entries link to available source material, such as a publication, institutional page, news article or public post. A source supports the specific event or statement it records. An acknowledgement is not proof of policy change; attendance is not proof of adoption; and a citation does not establish agreement with the cited work. Self-reported claims should be read with their stated attribution.
Open citation data
Citation snapshots use free OpenAlex and Crossref data. Each provider has different coverage and update timing. Their totals must not be added together. Citation links are not a count of distinct citing publications or a manual audit of every citation, and may include self-citations. Read each snapshot’s provider, indexed-work count and date.
Coverage and updates
The dashboard is a growing collection, not a complete census of every BBA mention. Public social media coverage is particularly incomplete. A scheduled weekly refresh supports open citation updates; the displayed date identifies the snapshot actually available. If a refresh fails, the last successful data is retained rather than replaced with zero. Duplicate reports should not be interpreted as separate outcomes.
Corrections and additional evidence
Send the source URL, publication date, relevant quotation and context when suggesting a correction or an additional item. Confidential nomination material and private referee correspondence are not public evidence sources for this dashboard.
