BBA Membership Code of Conduct and Ethics

The British Blockchain Association

Building on BBA’s 2021 Professional Charter, our Membership Code of Conduct and Ethics promotes integrity, accountability and responsible professional practice.

BBA members and sponsors are expected to uphold high standards of professionalism, integrity and respect. These six principles guide how we work together and contribute to the wider blockchain community.

1 Responsibility and Accountability

Act responsibly in your professional activities and observe applicable laws. Support public understanding of blockchain and help others develop their knowledge. Speak on behalf of the BBA or an APPG only with written authorisation.

2 Integrity and Honesty

Be honest about your qualifications, experience, affiliations and work. Present information and research accurately, acknowledge limitations and correct misleading statements. BBA membership should not be presented as accreditation or proof of professional competence.

3 Respect and Fairness

Treat fellow members, advisors and the public with dignity and fairness. Respect different backgrounds, viewpoints and levels of experience. Do not discriminate, bully or harass.

4 Privacy and Confidentiality

Respect the privacy of individuals and organisations. Protect confidential information and handle personal details responsibly. Share information only where you have the appropriate permission or authority.

5 Avoidance of Personal Gain

Do not misuse your BBA affiliation, entrusted role or confidential information for improper personal advantage. Disclose conflicts of interest to the BBA and ensure that activities undertaken in its name support its mission.

6 Collegiality

Share knowledge, encourage constructive collaboration and support fellow members. Respect the expertise and contributions of others. Obtain BBA approval before offering membership, sponsorship or a formal partnership on its behalf.
