It is circa ~ 370 B.C. Some of the finest philosophers in human history ever walked the earth are roaming around the streets of ancient Greece. You are revisiting Athens in the metaverse, looking forward to meet the "Travelling Teachers of Wisdom" - the likes of Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Epictetus, and Pythagoras - through their avatars.
As you walk leisurely in Acropolis, you observe people exploring music and poetry for the soul. It was the time when magic and rituals had given way to a perfect blend of art and science, leading to the natural termination of the material world, thereby orchestrating an intelligently administered society.
Just outside the city walls of Athens, beside a grove of olive trees, is the Plato’s Academy. An iconic institution that would attract hundreds of thousands of students from across Europe and Asia, debating science, philosophy, politics, arts, virtues and morals, and sometimes the fundamental underpinnings of a just society. You join-in the conversation in which anarchists and utopians are having a stimulating debate. You find yourself having a deep, meaningful dialogue with Socrates, and get an opportunity to re-live the moments of his famous trial.
"It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it” – you heard Aristotle, Plato’s student and contemporary, as he shares some pearls of wisdom with his students.
You wonder: Can a combination of metaverse technologies help us re-create the fascinating moments from history?
Only time will tell.
