ChatGPT wouldn’t have invented Bitcoin’s blockchain, because breakthroughs like that require:
- seeing a problem nobody has named yet
- forming a hypothesis with no training data
- taking intellectual risk with no guarantee of reward
- combining incentives, cryptography, game theory, and social reality into a coherent new system
I’ve yet to see an AI agent originate a truly new *concept*.
It can remix, optimise, summarise, translate, and even surprise you with a clever connection.
But the leap from nothing to a new paradigm is still human territory.
PhD-level novelty won’t be automated.
